with fresh Messages for you!Yes! We are now going to study the Pastoral Epistles in Dennis' next Book series. We'll begin with 1 Timothy.
This book was written by the great apostle Paul. Having come out of Judaism of the 1st century, Paul deeply knew and and continued his studies in the Old Testament of his nation's heritage. However, now a Christian, for Paul all the Old Testament rites, regulations and worship God gave to Israel, were now merely a marker on the way, to see and find salvation in the Messiah, who was now revealed 38 times in the Old Testament, to be the resurrected Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Paul preached faith in Christ, the promised Messiah alone for salvation, not rules, regulations, rites and physical sacrifices. As time went on, Paul surrounded himself with men who also came to believe Jesus Christ was and is the saving Messiah God sent. Timothy, one of them all, was perhaps Paul's dearest and closest companion, for as a young man Paul led him to Christ. But now Timothy became a leading preacher and teacher in local churches of his time. This letter speaks to what, how and why Timothy needed encouragement and warnings. Study this with me and learn how much of the same applies, to you and me!
